Honoring AAPI Heritage: A Group Exhibition at Galaray House
Contemporary Asian and Asian American Women Artists
This past May, Galaray House was honored to present a special group exhibition celebrating AAPI Heritage Month, featuring five contemporary Asian and Asian American women artists working across painting and drawing. Curated by Boston-based artist and educator Christina Chang, the show brought together a range of perspectives exploring identity, emotion, memory, and human connection.
The exhibition represented one of the gallery's most personally meaningful programs to date, and a natural extension of our commitment to presenting diverse artistic voices in Boston's SoWa Arts District.
About the Curator: Christina Chang
Christina Chang is a Chinese-Italian artist based in the Boston area whose work draws inspiration from her rich heritage, diverse travels, and life experiences, employing saturated colors to convey deep and evocative emotions. She received a BFA in Painting from Texas Christian University and a MAT from Rhode Island School of Design, and has worked as an art educator for many years, teaching both children and adults.
As both a participating artist and curator of this exhibition, Chang brought an insider's perspective to the selection process, assembling a group of artists whose work spans expressive abstraction to detailed observational drawing, unified by a commitment to personal authenticity.

A Note on AAPI Heritage Month
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a national recognition of the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders throughout American history. For Galaray House, this exhibition was not simply a timely acknowledgment of the calendar but a genuine curatorial commitment to representation, and to presenting multiple perspectives rather than a single narrative.
