Art Gifts for Pet and Animal Lovers: 2026 Holiday Gift Guide
This guide features 15 works priced from $60 to $2,800, all available at Galaray House, a contemporary art gallery in Boston’s SoWa Arts District. It’s for anyone who loves animals: seven original paintings, including a cat, a duck, a calf, a pair of zebras, and a scarlet tanager, and eight archival prints of pandas, bears, a lion, a koala, a kangaroo, sheep, owls, and fish. If you’re shopping for Christmas or the holidays for a pet owner, an animal lover, or a child who loves animals, start here.
The archival prints by Caryl Hull Leavitt start at $60 and make an easy gift, and the originals run from $600 to $2,800. Each work’s medium is listed below, so you can tell a print from an original. Looking for a portrait of your own pet? McKenzie West accepts pet portrait commissions, and orders for holiday delivery are due by November 30.

Animal Art: Original Paintings and Archival Prints
Commission a Pet Portrait by McKenzie West
No painting in this guide is your own pet, and that’s where a commission comes in. McKenzie West paints in oil in a realistic, representational style, and her pet portraits are a specialty. Pasture, the calf in this guide, shows how she approaches an animal subject.
For a holiday gift, commission orders must be placed by November 30. Contact us with a photo of the pet and the size you have in mind, and we’ll confirm pricing and timing.
How to Choose Art for an Animal Lover
- Cat lovers: Carole Rabe’s Tan Cat on Tan Mat is an oil painting of a cat at rest.
- Bird lovers: Marcia Crumley’s Scarlet Tanager, Peter Bain’s Duck and Chicken coop, and Caryl Hull Leavitt’s Owls print.
- Farm animal fans: McKenzie West’s Pasture and Leavitt’s Sheep print.
- Wild animal fans: Anne-Louise Ewen’s Zebra Facing Left and Zebra Facing Right are matching 32 x 26 inch oils at $2,800 each, and they work hung together or apart. Leavitt’s prints include a lion, a koala, a kangaroo and joey, pandas, and bears.
- Ocean lovers: Leavitt’s Go Fish print.
- Dog lovers, and anyone whose pet isn’t shown here: a commissioned portrait is the way to give the animal you know.
Prints and originals suit different gifts. An archival print is a reproduction, made in multiples, and Leavitt’s 11 x 14 inch prints fit a standard frame, which makes them a good choice for a child’s room or a small gift. An original is one of a kind. For a household with a favorite animal, a painting like Tan Cat on Tan Mat or Pasture gives the room a focal point.
